Romans 5:3-4: The Christian perspective on suffering

A public debate on the problem of evil, in which an atheist’s own value judgements undercut his case, sets up Paul’s very different account of suffering in Romans 5:3-4. Far from being a problem for the Christian, suffering is woven by God into a chain that produces endurance, character, and hope.
