SUMMARY:Stand for the Gospel 2020
DESCRIPTION:Stand for the Gospel is a weekend conference that was started in 2010 with a vision to serve the church in New Zealand\, across denominations around the unity of the Gospel. We celebrate its life transforming power and take up the call to proclaim it to all people\, calling all people to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. \nThe conference is purposely simple: \n\nWe host one keynote speaker from overseas who expounds the Scriptures challenging us with the Word of God.\nMen and women serving the church in New Zealand offer seminars on topics which unfold implications of the Gospel and applying them to our lives as believers and servants of Christ.\nWe provide an opportunity for a small number of ministries to have display tables where they can share their ministry aims with attendees throughout the weekend.\n\nThe 2020 Keynote speaker is Don Carson (MDiv\, Central Baptist Seminary in Toronto; PhD\, Cambridge University) is emeritus professor of New Testament at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield\, Illinois\, and founder & theologian-at-large of The Gospel Coalition. He has authored numerous books\, and recently edited The Enduring Authority of the Christian Scriptures. Carson is an active guest lecturer in academic and church settings around the world. DESCRIPTION:Topic: Old Testament Theology Part 1\nInstructor:  Joe Fleener\nHosted by:  Rolleston Baptist\, Rolleston. \nMany Christians are unfamiliar with the content of the Old Testament\, let alone it’s historical setting and theological purpose for the covenant people of God. In part one of what is planned to be a three-part course we will look carefully at the first 17 books of the English Old Testament canon. In doing so we will aim to gain a better grasp of their historical setting and God’s purpose in revealing Himself as He has in these books for His covenant people – both Old and New. History and Theology will come together as we bask in the glory of God’s timeless revelation of Himself to His people. \n(For those who would like to complete some advanced\, preparatory reading\, please read the associated chapters from Van Pelt\, Miles V. A Biblical-Theological Introduction to the Old Testament: The Gospel Promised. Crossway. 2017.) \nOur schedule for the day is as follows: \n\n9:00 – 10:30 => Session 1\n10:30 – 11:00 => Morning Tea\n11:00 – 12:30 => Session 2\n12:30 – 1:30 => Lunch\n1:30 – 3:00 => Session 3\n3:00 – 3:30 => Afternoon Tea\n3:30 – 5:00 => Session 4\n\nAs things stand\, we have a Men’s Breakfast scheduled for this same Saturday. We’d like to propose continuing with this plan and inviting any other men who may be planning to attend the Roving Classroom to join us for breakfast as well. \nBreakfast will be from 7:30am. \nBoth breakfast and the Roving Classroom will be held at our usual church venue – Rolleston Christian School\, 571 Springston Rolleston Rd\, Rolleston. \nPlease let us know by Friday\, 07 August: \n\nHow many from your church plan to attend the Roving Classroom?\nWho needs either rides from the airport\, accommodation or both?\nHow many plan to also attend the breakfast?

DESCRIPTION:The Tell Me Conference is geared towards bringing together faithful biblical teaching with practical action. This conference aims to provide a sound theological framework for evangelism\, as well as offering opportunities for fellowship and networking together. Our hope is to encourage the gospel to the forefront of Christian living by making this conference as accessible as possible. Therefore this is a free conference (lunch provided) and is open to anyone (families are warmly welcomed) who would like to develop in both sharing the gospel and biblical apologetics. Come and be encouraged\, as God equips us to be more effective in our daily lives. \nFor 2020\, we have prominent apologist Dr. James White from Alpha and Omega Minstries flying over from the USA to speak.
